I swung by the ICA website and drooled at their events lineup so much that I wish I’m in London. Arrgh! You see!
White was presented the Best Animated Film by a Student last night at the Phoenix Awards. Feeling extremely humbled by an enormously talented audience, I was overwhelmed and ecstatic to walk on stage to receive the award. I didn’t have the chance to thank anyone, so here’s my little thank you:
Thank you, judges of the Phoenix Awards for selecting White. I would also like to thank Media Authority of Singapore for giving me a scholarship to study animation at the School of Art, Design and Media, and for your support and belief in my dream of becoming a great animation director. There are so much to be done for animated films in Singapore, and I would like to believe that there will be more and better things to come.
Mark your calendars! The first Siggraph conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques opens in Singapore this December. Join us as a student volunteer to support conference events and programme and make use of this opportunity to interact with industry professionals, artists and attendees. The juicy part is all SVs will receive a conference access badge allowing you access to most conferences and exhibition, after your shifts that is. Details and sign-up here.
Last year’s Siggraph at San Diego is crazy. So many things to see, so many people to meet and so little time. It’s like putting 100 Einsteins in a room and everyone is talking at the same time. And you are in it too. Imagine. There are geeky stuff like conferences on the fluid system utilised in Surf’s Up and CG pipeline of Happy Feet. And in ‘Emerging Technologies’ I found BYU-BYU. They have their own computer animation festival too. I think I looked like a child in a giant candy store last year.
This coming august, I will be back as a team leader! Whee! Must. remember. to. breath.
The break is here, yay! And closing with a bang is, erm, the opening reception tonight! The Best of ADM show has a reception this evening at 6pm at ADM NTU. Do come because there’s plenty to see!
